Studies Show Safety of 5G Network

The TeleChoice Telstra network is currently being upgraded to the latest and most powerful mobile technology yet – 5G. This technology is set to make significant changes to the way we communicate, do business and connect – a mobile network revolution. 5G enabled mobile devices are already in stock at TeleChoice stores and available on TeleChoice mobile plans, so you can experience this new tech as it rolls out over the next few years.

Recent Studies Show 5G is Safe

It’s important to ensure that new technology is safe for use, and recent studies by Telstra on the TeleChoice Telstra 5G network have demonstrated the safety of this technology in a number of important ways.
  • The network produces electromagnetic energy (EME) levels of around 1000 times below accepted safety limits.
  • These EME levels are similar to those produced by existing 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi networks.

The rollout of the TeleChoice Telstra 5G network and availability of 5G enabled devices from TeleChoice stores on TeleChoice mobile plans means that this network was able to be studied in live, real-world conditions. Multiple readings were taken in a wide range of typical use scenarios, like cafes, sports fields, apartment buildings, schools, and other high-volume public spaces.

Telstra, in partnership with Ericsson, Narda, and Total Radiation Solutions, is so far the only provider who has committed to studies this extensive, utilizing the HTC 5G Hub and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G devices, which are available now on TeleChoice mobile plans.

What About When 5G Rollout is Complete?

At the moment, 5G is being rolled out over several years and is only available in selected sites within major Australian cities and high-traffic areas like Sydney and Melbourne Airport. But what happens when everyone is on 5G? Especially since 5G is built to handle exponentially more simultaneous connections?

For peace of mind, Telstra has used its model to simulate this at various stages of the TeleChoice Telstra 5G network rollout, testing mmWave on their trial network at maximum capacity. What’s more, further real-world testing will occur as the network expands and more people start accessing 5G using 5G enabled devices from TeleChoice stores on TeleChoice mobile plans. So far, the efficiency improvements that 5G allows for means that EME levels remain low on 5G the more devices are connected, which is great news.
